Network 1

LAN and WAN: Local networks differ from wide-area networks
Network benefits and costs: Sharing resources creates dependencies
Performance factors: Bandwidth and competing traffic affect throughput
Client-server roles: Clients request centrally provided services

Network 2

Peer-to-peer roles: Peers can both request and provide resources
NIC and transmission media: Interfaces connect devices to communication links
Switches and access points: Connect devices within a local network
Routers: Forward traffic between networks

Network 3

Star topology: Every device connects to a central device
Mesh topology: Multiple links provide alternative routes

Services

The internet and web: A network of networks supports multiple services
DNS: Resolve a domain name to an IP address
Hosting and web servers: Store and serve website resources
The cloud: Remote storage software or processing

Connections

Network 1 → Network 2: Interfaces and connecting devices implement the chosen sharing arrangement.
Network 3 → Services: A network carries client requests and server responses for internet services.
